MidwestHR, a Certified Professional Employer Organization (CPEO), headquartered in Woodridge IL, is seeking an experienced HR Specialist to join our team.

In this position, you will provide support to our clients and their employees through strategic and pro-active HR solutions including coaching, training, guidance and policy development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a liaison for clients and worksite employees by handling questions, interpreting issues and helping to resolve work-related problems
  • Perform difficult HR/employer duties, including refereeing disputes, assisting in employee terminations and disciplinary procedures
  • Advise clients and worksite managers on policies and other compliance subjects
  • Develop employee policies and guidebooks in compliance with local, state and federal law; present information in meetings at worksites as requested by clients
  • Plan, organize, direct, control or coordinate personnel and management training for worksites
  • Facilitate and manage verification services including employment verifications, references, criminal background checks, credit checks and drug testing
  • Ensure clients are following local, state and federal laws when requesting services and provides guidance on the interpretation of results and adverse actions
  • Investigate and respond to unemployment claims and provides guidance, supervision and attendance (when needed) for unemployment authoritative actions such as hearings, appeals and court appearances
  • Process, manage and maintain claims and inquiries work related injuries and illness
  • Conducts investigative measures to properly respond to and participate in claims for workers compensation benefits
  • Yearly EEO, OSHA and other regulatory reporting
  • Investigate and respond to employee grievances including claims of harassment and discrimination

What You’ll Offer:

  • Degree in HR, business or relevant subject field of study
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources to include resolving complex HR and employee issues
  • Certification as either a PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is required
  • Expert knowledge using MS Office applications to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Problem solving skills with a focus on technology and continuous improvement
  • Outstanding listening skills and the ability to navigate and consult with customers through personal and difficult issues
  • Ability to diagnose problems using information and data to lead to correction and process improvement efforts
  • Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and prioritization and follow-up skills
  • Ability to establish and sustain creditable relationships, demonstrate good judgement, and build analytical and customer focused skills
  • Exceptional and professional verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively with inter-department teams and to encourage strong working relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills at all levels of management
  • Excellent organization skills and proven attention to detail
  • Second level and strategic thinking
  • Proficient data entry and typing skills
  • PEO, ASO or HRO industry experience will make you a preferred candidate
